Overview
The number of Vietnamese men who smoke in Southern California has risen. However, there aren't many resources to help them quit smoking and deal with its negative effects. Clear Paths offers a plan to help these men recognize the dangers of smoking and guide them toward quitting.
Research
What research went into the subject?
Challenge
The goal was to identify research that effectively engages Vietnamese immigrant men in understanding the harms of smoking. The approach focuses on presenting the information in a way that is straightforward, relatable, and culturally sensitive, ensuring it resonates with their experiences. The intention is not to lecture or patronize but to encourage self-reflection and motivation to learn.
Applications
How did the design get implemented?
The Enviroment
The data was integrated into a park setting to create an accessible, non-intrusive environment where users could engage with information naturally. Walking paths featured subtle design elements like interactive infographics, encouraging users to explore data at their own pace while reflecting on their health in a calming, supportive space.
Design in the Enviroment
The design elements were crafted to evoke a friendly and clean feel, ensuring they harmonized with the natural environment. This approach aimed to make the data displays feel welcoming and less daunting.
