Overview
Abloom is a cannabis dessert company specializes in crafting artisanal biscuits and teas that combine quality ingredients with the benefits of cannabis. Each product is thoughtfully created to offer a unique flavor experience while promoting relaxation and wellness. The company prioritizes sourcing organic, non-GMO ingredients, ensuring that every biscuit and tea blend is not only delicious but also health-conscious.
The Process
What steps did I take to create my design solutions?
Competitive Landscape
Examining competitors in the cannabis space reveals a trend toward aesthetics that are either overly scientific or cheesy, which can make learning about the products feel intimidating. This approach may discourage people from engaging with the industry as a whole.
Explorations
The main inspirations for the design came from vintage block print illustrations and typography that convey a light, airy feel. This choice aimed to give the packaging a calm and simple presence, creating an inviting experience for customers.
Type and Color
To create a simple and calming presence, the design incorporates earthy colors like soft purples and warm greens, along with bold, clear typography that enhances readability
Logo Development
The Abloom logo is designed based on the golden ratio, creating a visually pleasing and balanced composition. This design aims to evoke a refreshing and harmonious feel, allowing viewers to intuitively sense the brand's essence.
The Packaging
Putting the pieces together.
Tea Bottle Design
Abloom’s packaging embraces a vintage Americana and Japanese-inspired aesthetic, featuring bold, blocky type and an intentionally loose layout. This unique design approach sets it apart from typical CBD products, which often rely on flashy colors and busy imagery.
Chocolate Biscuit Design
To complement the bottle design, I created a biscuit box that follows the same design system but with a bolder look to reflect its higher CBD concentration. This box features a stronger color contrast, reinforcing the potency of the product while maintaining a cohesive brand aesthetic across packaging.
Chocolate Biscuit Design
The secondary packaging is designed for consumers interested in a curated pairing of tea and chocolate biscuits. The packaging follows the same calming and relaxing design language as the rest of the product line.
